Robert Bray
Robert Bray was the editor (with Paul Bushnell) of Diary of a Common Soldier in the American Revolution, 1775-1783: An Annotated Edition of the Military Journal of Jeremiah Greenman (Northern Illinois University Press, 1978), and was editor-in-chief and a contributor to A Reader's Guide to Illinois Literature (Illinois State Library, 1985). He is the author of Rediscoveries: Literature and Place in Illinois (University of Illinois Press, 1991), Peter Cartwright, Legendary Frontier Preacher (University of Illinois Press, 2005), and Reading with Lincoln (Southern Illinois University Press, 2022). He also wrote the introduction for the re-issue of Francis Grierson's 1909 novel The Valley of Shadows: Sangamon Sketches (University of Illinois Press, 1990).
Dr. Bray has taught in the English Department of Illinois Wesleyan University for many years, where he is currently R. Forrest Colwell Professor Emeritus of American Literature.
